The wooden bucket is an early-game solution to stowing away water (or any other liquid) safely for later use. It is readily available as a starting option, easily skipping the Canteen. Since it is only slightly more expensive than a canteen and holds twice as many portions of water, it is recommended to craft this instead if possible.
